A retreat at Pioneer is a contrast to everyday life. Because the experience is beyond the traditional and familiar, participants are made ready for learning, discussing and dreaming.  A retreat also provides a place away from the everyday distractions of life.  This allows each retreat goer the freedom to focus on the task at hand, whether planning, brainstorming, problem solving, studying the Bible, or just having fun.music
Every retreat participant experiences the growth of a relationship.  Through shared experiences, retreat goers interact and encounter colleagues, fellow students and church family in new ways. A well-planned retreat will often feature organized, intentional community building activities, designed to create interaction and build relationships within the group.  Group mixers, games, and challenge course activities are very effective community building activities.  However, community building can also happen spontaneously, while traveling together, enjoying a meal, or simply through fellowship.  Finally, the shared experience provides memories that a group can reflect on for a lifetime.
